Enhancements to sporting facilities in West Wellow

More planning success, this time in West Wellow, a village near Romsey, where we’ve had two approved planning applications for upgrades to existing sporting facilities.  The first was a submission for Wellow Tennis Club who were proposing to install floodlights to two tennis courts.  We prepared a Landscape and Visual Appraisal to consider the potential effects of the proposed lighting on the landscape character of the site and surroundings; the visual amenity of nearby properties; for users of the PRoW and open spaces in the vicinity.  The client was delighted with the outcome and when notifying us of the planning decision said, “many thanks again for your excellent report”.

The second project in West Wellow was an application to build an Olympic sized indoor equestrian arena for Blackwater Equestrian, a provider of premium livery and training services, owned by an international showjumper. The proposal will provide world class training facilities for horses and riders competing at the highest level, and a fully equipped site for use by the Riding for the Disabled Association charity. We prepared a landscape masterplan detailing additional planting and screening, together with a supporting landscape analysis report to show how the new building would integrate into the site and the wider landscape.

As well as working with Blackwater Equestrian, we have been involved in a number of other equestrian projects recently including designs for a canter track, horse walker and significant new stables as part of a wider commission at a country estate near Salisbury.
