Fiona joins expert panel at World Biogas event

Last week Fiona attended the UK Anaerobic Digestion and World Biogas Expo 2019 at the NEC.  She had been invited to join a panel of experts to discuss “Putting Anaerobic Digestion at the Centre of Commercial Sustainability as part of the Clean Growth Strategy”.  Representing Indigo, Fiona was called on to discuss the landscape masterplanning considerations that need to be taken into account when establishing an anaerobic digestion facility.  She also raised awareness of how the growth of anaerobic digestion facilities can itself shape and influence landscape strategy and estate masterplans through feedstock requirements. The type of feedstock such as herbal leys could determine the character and appearance of the landscape and provide Green Infrastructure and biodiversity benefits.

Fiona has significant experience of producing LVIAs for AD facilities and she has also worked on other renewable energy projects including wind farms and solar parks.  As a practice Indigo has also worked in this field, we have prepared a LVIA and a Landscape Strategy for an AD facility on the edge of Salisbury Plain (shown in the image below) and we continue to explore opportunities in the renewable energy sector.
