A car sales showroom and servicing garage which brought interesting challenges, due to both its location within an ‘island’ at a junction on the M20 and the high sensitivity of the site in ecological terms.

As purchased, the site was in a completely overgrown and derelict state although it was also a remnant of heathland, rare in this part of Kent. Working closely with ecologists, and following intensive planning negotiations, Indigo detailed a scheme of habitat restoration and management in peripheral and largely hidden areas of the site. A highly successful bio-diverse roof was also carefully designed over part of the showroom. In contrast, the site frontage, was devised to create a more manicured look, retaining TPO trees and still maintaining a heathland theme.
