Charlton Farm is one of the three sites run by the Children’s Hospice South West. Set in the rolling green belt landscape of the former Tyntesfield Estate south of Bristol, this special centre provides outstanding care for children with life-limiting conditions, in times of need.

This is a project which we were all deeply touched by and remains one the charities which we support. Designed around a core of historic farm buildings, the scheme provides a wide range of facilities within a beautiful and uplifting environment.

Our role, as coordinators of the whole external environment, involved the design and layout of courtyards, gardens, an orchard, and play spaces for children of all ages and abilities, all carefully set into the sloping site.

The scheme also involved careful restoration of both built and natural environments, sustainable urban drainage design, ecological enhancements and the preparation of a long-term management plan.

We are delighted that Indigo’s extensive involvement was recognised by a Landscape Institute design award.
