Success for Indigo at the Salisbury Civic Society Awards
We were delighted to win an award at the Salisbury Civic Society New Buildings Awards for our work on The Memorial Pavilion at The Avenue Cemetery. We initially approached PB Oak Framing and worked with them to develop our concept design for the shelter which they then constructed from English oak using a hammerbeam and arched brace system. The feedback from the judges was “it was so obviously an award winner that no visit to the cemetery was really needed.” The judges did, of course, visit the cemetery and this confirmed their perception that this was a “building of the highest standard both for its form and for its method of construction…and of great visual interest”. Indigo were responsible for the landscape masterplan, detailed landscape proposals and for overseeing the construction; the judges commented further on the overall design of the cemetery that “it provided an excellent setting for the shelter and that the surrounding landscape and the building both complemented each other very well.”
Another of our projects, for a private client at Stratford sub Castle, was also an award winner at the event! Melanie Latham of Affinity Architects designed a highly attractive, contemporary, energy efficient home which would be able to meet the owners changing needs, replacing an existing bungalow situated on the lower slopes of Old Sarum. We worked closely with the clients to understand their requirements, expanding their overall vision, and created a complimentary landscape masterplan that takes maximum advantage of the fantastic setting.
